BRAD SWEARER – Principal – Director of Multifamily Property Group
Brad leads Hicks' acquisition/development and management of multi-family investments.
Brad was Vice President at Michael Stevens Interests (MSI) where he completed over $950M in acquisitions, dispositions, finance, property rehabilitation, and development transactions on behalf of the company. In his 21+ year career at MSI, Brad was involved in every aspect of the operation of a successful multi-family investment firm with a portfolio that grew to exceed 5,000 apartment units. Brad helped build the current company owned portfolio through acquisition and later transitioned into development. Brad played a primary role in conjunction with the company owner in launching a profitable apartment development program from the ground up. He was also responsible for the financing needs of the existing corporate owned real estate portfolio at MSI as well as the acquisition and development financing needs on the growth side of the company. Later, Brad played a key role in the continuation of company operations in the wake of the unfortunate and unexpected passing of his mentor, the company owner/founder, Mr. Michael Stevens. In this role, he was faced with a multitude of adverse economic conditions during the recession of 2008 through 2012, all of which were successfully overcome. In addition, his experience with MSI included involvement in asset management, trouble shooting and problem solving, property renovations, budgeting, insurance claim and property tax negotiations, as well as corporate and property management.
Before joining MSI, Brad was a Real Estate Analyst and Consultant with the Thomas Bearden Company where he appraised over 100 commercial properties representing over $250 million in appraised value.
Brad received a Bachelors Degree in Economics from The University of Texas at Austin, and is a licensed Real Estate Broker and State Certified Real Estate Appraiser in the State of Texas.
